I know the pain these kids are feeling and my life changed once I started to invest in my mindset and the way I view the world...
From the moment I was born doctors gave my parents a list of all the things that I will "never be able to do..."
They told my parents that I would never be able to dress myself, they told my parents that I would never be able to feed myself...
They told my parents that I will basically be a big "baby" for the rest of my life and that I will need a caregiver around me at all times...
Do you know what my parents did, that I am forever grateful for?
THEY THREW THAT LIST OUT!
They told the doctors that we will not let you put limits on our child and he will figure out for himself what he is capable of doing on his own.
As early as I can remember my parents would put food in front of me and tell me to figure out how to eat on my own. They would put clothes in front of me and tell me, "Nick, figure out how to dress yourself."
My parents told me, "Nick the world is not going to stop because you were born with no legs and one arm, so you will have to figure out each and everything your own way... Nick's way."
They told me that things would be hard with everything that I tried for the first time, but then they will start to get easier. They got my mindset into the rhythm of not can't, but how?
I like to say that my parents are the real superheroes and that I am just their offspring...
